Online collaborative book creation

No grand successes in this yet, but here are some efforts under way:

  • Connexions, run by people at Rice University. Anybody can contribute a “module”, which could be the equivalent of a book chapter or lecture notes.

  • Wikibooks, a sister project to Wikipedia.

  • Places with lots of free videos

    Here are some:

    • Khan Academy, with over 1000 videos by Salman Khan on mathematics, physics, chemistry, and the financial crisis.

    • WatchKnow, a compendium of free educational videos.
